May - Expediation Diary
Dave West Golf Day in Aid of Clean Sheet Foundation
Dave West - 20 May 2009
On 15th May I was pleased and privileged to organise a golf day as a contribution towards my fund raising effort for the Clean Sheet Foundation’s bike ride to Uganda. The day started off with rain and storms and as we drove towards Dewstow Golf Course near the Severn Bridge I began to look forward to the event with a large degree of trepidation. Unfortunately all the teams arrived despite the heavy rain and we were hosted with coffee and breakfast at this beautiful location.
Dewstow is one of my favourite golf courses and I was saddened that those golfers who had not played the course before were seeing it in such ‘torrential’ conditions. None the more, the event ran really successfully and culminated in a happy but drenched group of players. The event managed to raise just under £2000.00 for my contribution to cycling Leg 5 between Entebbe and Koch Gomo and this goes a significant way towards raising my £5000.00 entry fee. I would like to thank all of the participants particularly those who won prizes and donated these back to the event which is very much appreciated.
